What the Tide Brings - buy my new poetry book here
What the Tide Brings marks the debut of a new voice in poetry. Kim Barke's poems find space along the paths of nature, science, love, and death. Fireflies, buzzing phones, lab rats, and blue herons share the page with the electrical energy felt between two bodies in love. Between losing sleep over sump pumps and rock climbing in Joshua Tree, she captures the everyday sublime: sometimes ragged, often muffled, always thoughtful.

- Kim Barke
- Kim Barke was born and raised in New York. She’s had a strong attachment to coastal Maine since the age of 15 when she spent a summer living with her cousins and learned to weave rag rugs. Kim has a background in biochemistry and biophysics and earned a PhD in Pharmacology and Toxicology. She’s currently an MFA candidate in creative nonfiction at Sarah Lawrence College. Her work has appeared in The Chronogram, Ducts.org, and CommonDreams.org.

Glad to hear from you chloe ! Your mom has done a terrific job painting pictures of your travels for us! I love reading the blogs! Glacier is my favorite part of this wonderful country ! I know, I know.
